The Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP)

The Advanced Oxidation Proces (AOP) is commonly used for water treatment where traditional water treatment methods, including standard oxidation, is not sufficient to break down chemical compounds. Ozone is one of the most powerful commercially available oxidants and 3 000 times more efficient than chlorine when used as a water disinfectant. It destroys bacteria, fungus, spores and parasites in water, especially chlorine-resistant microorganisms.

The Creation of the Hydroxyl Radical (-OH) is desirable due to the high oxidation potential provided. Also, there is no residual of -OH as it reacts immediately and completely.

Two of the most powerful oxidants known to mankind, Ozone (O₃) and Hydrogen peroxide  (H₂O₂), are injected into the irrigation water to form amongst other Peroxone (dihydrogen trioxide) or H₂O₃ which is much more potent than either O₃ or H₂O₂ on their own.

Peroxone oxidizes to -OH radicals which are highly oxidative

These radicals oxidizes the carbonate and bi-carbonate salts to release the calcium and magnesium and other cations into the soil.

These cations binds with anions for instance sulphates and chlorides which are highly water soluble, and the magnesium and sodium leach out of the soil profile.

  • Removes bio-film*
  • Increase of aerobic respiration at roots
  • Prevention of fungus, nematodes and phytophthora
  • Better utilization of fertilizer (saving costs!)

  • Clean irrigation systems and even water distribution
  • Optimization of the Root System and Rhizosphere
  • Increases water penetration and reduces water logging

Why should your irrigation system be free from Biofilm?
